Overview At Pacific you will learn to treat patients from initial evaluation, through diagnosis and intervention, to follow-up examination and treatment modification aimed at achieving specific patient outcomes. In addition to rehabilitating patients, you can be involved in injury prevention, maintenance and promotion of overall fitness, pain alleviation and healthcare policy development. You will have the opportunity to practice in a wide range of settings as well as advance into supervision, administration, teaching or research.
The Program: Adaptability The program is a total of six semesters in length. Students typically take 7 to 10 classes, or about 18 to 23 credits, per semester.
The primary goal of our program is to graduate well-rounded, highly competent clinicians who are ready to assume duties in any of the standard areas of PT practice. We make every effort to offer a well-balanced curriculum in the areas of musculoskeletal, neuromuscular and general medical physical therapy, with attention to the needs of people with various abilities across their life span. Our program promotes evidence-based practice through critical analysis and the application of research to ensure the advancement of the physical therapy profession.
Interprofessional Education As a primary healthcare provider, it will be critical that you understand the complexity of the healthcare system and value the contributions of other medical professionals. During the program, you will have an opportunity to work with students from the entire College of Health Professions. Together, small groups of health professions students develop an integrated approach to dealing with a particular medical case.
